Electronic Aids for Kayakers

Facilitators:  Edgar Hulatt and Alan Campbell

Location & Time:  The clinic will be held on Monday, 4th March from 6.30 pm to 9.00 pm in the Junior Room at the Salvation Army Citadel, 4030 Douglas Street, Victoria V8X 5J6.

The Plan:

This clinic will highlight a number of our favourite electronic aids available for kayakers to assist in planning a day paddle or an extended trip.

We will look at internet websites, providing information on weather, tides and currents and as well review various Apps such as Navionics Software for GPS position, route planning, track recording, and tide & current information; the AyeTides program for tides & currents; Sail Flow, Wind Alert, Windy, Big Wave Dave and others for weather information; Ship Finder for locating vessels with AIS; and the use of In Reach in remote areas.

In addition a list of other resources and links will be made available.  We also invite participants to share any of their favourite sites or programs with the group and discuss the merits of the available resources.
