Title: On Water Currents Clinic [full] & Drop in [open]

Location: Wildflower Pl and Amherst Ave Sidney, B.C.
Description: Sorry, the clinic is full & there is a waiting list. Pool drop in space is available. What: An introduction to paddling in moving water including ferrying, edging and turning in currents and crossing eddy lines. When: Sunday, March 11th. 9:00 on the beach , 9:30 on the water. Note: there is a parking time limit of 4 hrs on Amherst so please park on 3rd Street or Wildflower place. Where: Amherst. Our exercises will be either at the rocks just west of Dock Island or in John Pass. Who: SISKA members. Paddle Canada Level 1, or equivalent, skills required. Participants should be confident of their rescue skills. Instructors: Gary Allen and Tom Hukari. Please contact Tom at onwatercourses@siska.ca if you wish to participate. Pre registration is required. Numbers will be restricted to provide a good student:instructor ratio. Fee: the usual SISKA clinic fee of $5/person, payable at the beach. Gear: Wear immersion gear. A helmet is highly recommended. If you have towing equipment and know how to use it, bring it. Bring lunch, snacks and water. Spare clothing in a drybag is recommended--required if you are not wearing a drysuit. (We do not recommend 'technical' clothing less seaworthy than a wetsuit and a paddling jacket.)
