What:
  A SISKA paddle from Oak Bay Marina - Parking Lot to Trial Island/Gonzales
   
Skill Level:
  This paddle is rated as an "Energizer Paddle" because of its distance and open water crossings and possible current. To understand this designation better, please read the SISKA Paddle Guidelines
The estimated distance for this paddle is 7.10nm.
   
When:
  Saturday December 15th, 2018. Meet at 9:30 am to be on the water at 10:00 am .
   
Where:
  Meet at the Oak Bay Marina - Parking Lot launch site. View map of launch site.
   
Who:
  Contact the trip leader, Edgar Hulatt, for more information or to register for the paddle. Please note that the paddle leader has set the maximum number of paddlers for this paddle to 15. Register early if you plan on joining.
   
The Plan:
Our leader will introduce the Plan and make sure everyone is comfortable with the requirements and any concerns that you may have. Please stay off the water until we are all ready. The leader may choose to enlist helpers and establish communications protocol. If you have VHF radio please bring it with you.

The launch site is on the south side of the Marina, next to the parking lot. Please be ready for a pre trip meeting at 9.50 am to be on the water by 10am. We will head along the coast line to Gonzales Pt, re-group to cross Enterprise Channel and circumnavigate Trial Island. We cross back over Enterprise Channel to Harling Pt. and head to Gonzales Beach for lunch´┐Żlots of white sand and bathrooms a bonus. After lunch we will head back noodling the shoreline and should be back at Oak Bay no later than 3 pm, for debriefing and coffee in the Marina coffee shop.

Plan B
In the event of adverse weather or sea state an alternative plan is to head north towards Willows Beach and Cadboro Bay, exploring the islands on the way. If the adverse winds are S.E. then Brentwood Bay may be the launch point.

Note:
  Always dress for the possibility of immersion and please bring a drybag containing a spare change of clothes.
Please bring a lunch / snacks and sufficient beverage to keep you hydrated, as well as a themos of something warm.
All participants are expected to have read, and to comply with the SISKA Policies and Procedures.
