Plan A
Fleming Beach at McCauley Point is a great launch site with plenty of parking, a handy all-tide beach (and ramp if needed), a pleasant picnic area and even washroom facilities!
We'll launch here and first turn right outside the breakwater to make our way noodling the rocky shore to CFB Esquimalt at the entrance to Esquimalt Harbour, before rounding the islets offshore and paddling back to Fleming Beach point-to-point. After lunch at the Fleming picnic area, we'll head out again, turning left this time and follow the shoreline around and into Victoria Harbour as far as West Bay, before returning point-to-point to Fleming Beach. The total distance is 6.7 nm.
Plan B
If the winds off Esquimalt are too strong we'll launch instead at nearby Songhees Point in Victoria Harbour and make a circuit of the Middle and Inner Harbour areas.
