Route plan A

Brentwood Bay and Saanich Inlet are typically a very calm and quiet place to paddle in comparison to other paddle locations such as the waterfront off Sidney, Oak bay or Victoria. The plan is to leave the small park area and boat launch immediately adjacent to the Brentwood ferry terminal and proceed across Brentwood Bay to the shoreline along Willis Point. Following the shoreline, our destination will be McKenzie Bight in Gowlland Tod Provincial Park. McKenzie Bight offers a nice place to stop for a break or lunch ( and also features a toilet!!). After lunch, we will proceed back along the Willis Point shoreline back to Brentwood Bay. If the group is willing we can poke into Tod Inlet before heading back to our launch point in Brentwood Bay. This would add another 1.5 nautical miles to the paddle. Entirely up to the group.

As this will be a small group, we can safely debrief the paddle at the Politano Cafe at the corner of West Saanich Rd and Wallace drive in 'downtown' Brentwood Bay.

Safety reminders

Always dress for the possibility of immersion and please bring a drybag containing a spare change of clothes. The drybag goes in your kayak with you, not in your car at the launch site. Please bring a lunch or snacks and sufficient beverage to keep you hydrated, as well as a thermos of something warm. Your paddle leader will introduce the plan and make sure everyone is comfortable with the requirements. Please stay off the water until the group is ready. If you have a VHF radio please bring it with you.
