Route plan A

This is a borderline Relaxed/Energizer paddle. More sunshine in March means a possibility of a titch more wind on the water--making it an Energizer.

Those entering Esquimalt Harbour must report to the Harbour Master on VHF Channel 10 as they enter and again as they leave.

This trip may visit Cole Island which was the Royal Navy munitions storage facility in years gone by. There is a small platform used to gain access to this historic site which is open to the public. You must be comfortable exiting and entering your kayak from a dock. Lunch -may- be at Cole Island or at nearby Portage Park.

Safety reminders

Always dress for the possibility of immersion and please bring a drybag containing a spare change of clothes. The drybag goes in your kayak with you, not in your car at the launch site. Please bring a lunch or snacks and sufficient beverage to keep you hydrated, as well as a thermos of something warm. Your paddle leader will introduce the plan and make sure everyone is comfortable with the requirements. Please stay off the water until the group is ready. If you have a VHF radio please bring it with you.
