Route plan A
Counterclockwise tour of Victoria Harbour, Gorge Waterway, portage at Portage Inlet to a lunch stop at Portage Park. Then paddle out of Esquimalt Harbour (be sure to call Harbour Master on VHF Channel 10) and back to Fleming Beach.
Ayetides predicts a less than 1 knot flood at the Gorge-Tillicum Bridge between 8am and 12pm but tide levels are near a 1 meter difference between the lower and upper Gorge. Immersion clothing is recommended for those unexpected swims. They do happen from time to time.
Come back at 6pm to see the 6.5 knot ebb in action.
This trip includes a portage of about 1km between the Gorge and Thetis Cove, where we will have lunch. Wheels are required, so be prepared to secure them to your kayak.
As per the information received at the February Club meeting, DND requires that we return through the centre of Esquimalt Harbour, and not follow the shore line.
