What:
A SISKA Light paddle from Fleming Beach to Esquimalt Coastline A light paddle (about 3-3.5 hours) to a scenic and historic area
Skill Level:
This paddle is rated as a Light Paddle and will follow the same rules as a Relaxed Paddles with regard to current, wind, waves and crossings.. To understand this designation better, please read SISKA's Paddle Guidelines
Paddlers taking part in this paddle are required to have PC Level 1 or equivalent experience. For information about PC Levels click here.
The total distance of this paddle is estimated to be approximately 8.10nm.
When:
Thursday, September 29th, 2022. Meet at the launchsite by 09:30am to be on the water by 10:00am

Details:
Our leader will introduce the Plan and make sure everyone is comfortable with the requirements and any concerns that you may have. Please stay off the water until we are all ready. The leader may choose to enlist helpers and establish communications protocol. If you have VHF radio please bring it with you.
Plan A:
New members welcome! After all the kayaks are ready to launch and we have had a briefing, we'll head out of Fleming Beach past Sale Point Park and Brothers Islands and into Esquimalt Harbour. Keeping a safe distance from the Navy Base, we'll paddle to Cole Island and stop for a visit. As the tide will be high(ish) at +/- 2.0m, we may be able to get up into Millstream Creek for a look. Then, a leisurely paddle back to Fleming beach. The whole trip will take about 3-3.5 hours. We won't have a lunch break on the water, but bring something and we can find a place at Fleming's Beach for a picnic and a debrief (if that seems like fun)

The maximum number of paddlers for this paddle has been set to 12. There is room for 5 paddler(s).
Note:
Always dress for the possibility of immersion and please bring a drybag containing a spare change of clothes.
Please bring a lunch / snacks and sufficient beverage to keep you hydrated, as well as a themos of something warm.
All participants are expected to have read, and to comply with SISKA's Policies and Procedures
All paddlers must have submitted proof of vaccination in order to take part in this paddle.
