The leader may choose to enlist helpers and establish communications protocol. If you have VHF radio please bring it with you.
Plan A:
We will meet at the beach below the Ferry Wharf park on Vedder Ave in Brentwood Bay. After paddling across Brentwood Bay towards Wills Pt, we will cross Saanich Inlet to Sheppard Pt and noodle the coastline south to Spectacle Falls. We will then cross the Inlet to McKenzie Bight. Depending on our time, we will lunch at either Spectacle Falls or McKenzie Bight. Afterward, we'll continue north along the eastern shore of the Inlet, around Willis Point and back to our launch site.
In addition to enjoying nature's handiwork in this beautiful area, we will see the 'stairs to nowhere' near Spectacle Falls, and waterfront homes along the Willis Point shore. Seabirds and intertidal life are usually seen, especially at lower tides, and sometimes seals and otters may put in an appearance!
As it will be on the cooler side, please bring proper immersion gear and a change of clothes.
Plan B:
If the winds are not cooperative, we will paddle along the east shoreline of Saanich Inlet, either towards Coles Bay, or towards McKenzie Bight depending upon the conditions.
