A SISKA Energizer paddle from Brentwood Bay Ferry Wharf to Spectacle Falls RESENDING INVITE WITH WORKING SIGN UP LINK

Skill Level:
This paddle is rated as an Energizer Paddle because of its distance and open water crossings and possible current. To understand this designation better, please read SISKA's Paddle Guidelines
Paddlers taking part in this paddle are required to have PC Level 1 or equivalent experience. For information about PC Levels click here.
The total distance of this paddle is estimated to be approximately 7.90nm.

When:
Saturday, April 13th, 2024. Meet at the launchsite by 09:30am to be on the water by 10:00am

Details:
Our leader will introduce the Plan and make sure everyone is comfortable with the requirements and any concerns that you may have. Please stay off the water until we are all ready. The leader may choose to enlist helpers and establish communications protocol. If you have VHF radio please bring it with you.
Plan A:
We will leave the beach beside the ferry dock and paddle across Saanich Inlet from Willis Point to the cement factory, then head south noodling the shoreline to Spectacle Falls before crossing Squally Reach towards Elbow Point headed for our lunch stop at McKenzie Bight. After lunch we will paddle back north along the shoreline to Willis Point before arriving back at the ferry dock beach. There are washrooms at the launch site and pit toilets at the lunch site. Expect to be back at the ferry dock beach between 1430hrs and 1500hrs. Tide is ebbing all day with high tide of 2.9M at 0700hrs and low tide of 0.4M at 1500hrs. Possible debrief at the Brentwood Bay Emporium after paddle.
NOTE: Paddle leader is away from March 22 to April 06, any unanswered emails during this time will be dealt with upon return.

Always dress for the possibility of immersion and please bring a drybag containing a spare change of clothes.
Please bring a lunch / snacks and sufficient beverage to keep you hydrated, as well as a themos of something warm.
