Plan A:
The plan is to head out from Island View Beach and circumnavigate James Island. This trip will involve two crossings, each of about 1 Nautical Mile. The length of the paddle will be about 9.1 Nautical Miles. After launching from Island View beach we will head to the south-west tip of James Island and paddle counterclockwise along the sand-cliffs at the south end of the Island and past many beautiful beaches along the east shore. After lunch we will continue around the north tip and down the west side of James Island before crossing the Cordova Channel back to launch site.

In case you are in the market for an island, the Times Colonist reports (January 2025), that the 770 acre Island is valued at $57.526 million - the most valuable residential property in the capital region.

Plan B:
If the winds are from the south-east, we could paddle along the protected shore along the west side of the Saanich Peninsula - departing from Moses Point and heading south past Deep Cove and Towner Bay towards Pat Bay and have lunch at Pat Bay Park. Return trip approx 9 Nautical miles.
