Light Paddle - Brentwood Bay Ferry Wharf to Senanus Island and coastline 2-3 hrs Paddle

What:
A SISKA Light paddle from Brentwood Bay Ferry Wharf to Senanus Island and coastline 2-3 hrs Coastline 2-3 hr paddle crossing to circumnavigate Senanus Island

Skill Level:
This paddle is rated as a Light Paddle and will follow the same rules as a Relaxed Paddles with regard to current, wind, waves and crossings.. To understand this designation better, please read SISKA's Paddle Guidelines
Paddlers taking part in this paddle are required to have PC Basic or equivalent experience. For information about PC Levels click here.
The total distance of this paddle is estimated to be approximately 3.80nm.

When:
Thursday, September 25th, 2025. Meet at the launchsite by 09:30am to be on the water by 10:00am

Details:
Our leader will introduce the Plan and make sure everyone is comfortable with the requirements and any concerns that you may have. Please stay off the water until we are all ready. The leader may choose to enlist helpers and establish communications protocol. If you have VHF radio please bring it with you.
Plan A:
We will launch from the beach beside the Brentwood Bay ferry dock. Follow the coastline north and then a short open water crossing to Senanus Island. We will then circumnavigate the island and then cross back over and continue to follow the coastline north. We will look for a beach for a leg stretch and snack break. Then reverse course and follow the coastline back to our put in location.
This paddle will be at most 2 hours kayaking, plus a short beach break.

Please come dressed for immersion, either a dry suit or neoprene with a paddle jacket.

There is a drop off location for the kayaks etc just before the ferry terminal, beside the bathroom block. Parking, street parking only.

Walkway down to the put in is paved but steep.

Note: when you register for a paddle you will always receive a response from the paddle leader to inform you that you are registered for the paddle or on the waitlist. Keep an eye out for this and check your junk folder. If you do not receive a response, then please contact the paddle leader again.
Plan B:
If weather does not permit Plan A, we will still launch from Brentwood Bay but instead paddle into Tod Inlet.

The maximum number of paddlers for this paddle has been set to 10. There is room for 2 paddler(s).
Note: Preregistration of any SISKA paddle is mandatory and any required waiver(s) must be completed prior to the day of the paddle. The paddle leader will turn away any paddler, member or non member, that is not already on the paddle manifest with a signed electronic waiver on file

Note:
Always dress for the possibility of immersion and please bring a drybag containing a spare change of clothes.
Please bring a lunch / snacks and sufficient beverage to keep you hydrated, as well as a themos of something warm.
