Details:
Our leader will introduce the Plan and make sure everyone is comfortable with the requirements and any concerns that you may have. Please stay off the water until we are all ready. The leader may choose to enlist helpers and establish communications protocol. If you have VHF radio please bring it with you.
Plan A:
A light ebb followed by a light flood makes this a perfect day for a figure eight paddle around Chatham and Discovery Islands. Here is our route -- After leaving Cadboro Bay we will paddle across Baynes Channel to the tip of N Chatham Island, then turn S, we'll see if the tide level allows us to paddle into the Lagoon (cactus !) then paddle between Chatham and Discovery, then paddle CCW around Discovery to our lunch spot at Rudlin Bay. After lunch, we'll continue paddling CCW, past the lighthouse (maybe sea lion sightings there !), W between Discovery and Chatham, then turning N to paddle between the two Chatham Islands, then turn W to paddle between Chatham and Vantreight Island, cross Baynes Channel on our way back to Cadboro Bay. If this all sounds confusing, don't worry, there will be someone to follow who won't get lost :)
As this paddle is likely to be oversubscribed, I first take paddlers names and put them in a hat, for two days. Then I draw from the hat to select paddlers for the trip. I will contact every paddler to indicate if you are on the paddle, or on the waitlist. This process is a fair way to select paddlers that does not give priority to the cell phone ninjas who are the quickest to respond.
Plan B:
TBA
