Details:
Our leader will introduce the Plan and make sure everyone is comfortable with the requirements and any concerns that you may have. Please stay off the water until we are all ready. The leader may choose to enlist helpers and establish communications protocol. If you have VHF radio please bring it with you.
Plan A:
Launch from Telegraph Bay (Cove) and follow the shoreline north along the Gordon Head waterfront to Margaret Bay watching for seals, otters, seabirds, and the sea-caves along the rocky shore. Stop for a stretch and a snack at Margaret Bay (or Glencoe Cove) before retracing our route back to the launch site. There are no washroom facilities at the launch or landing sites. Good parking available at Telegraph Bay. Possible debrief post-paddle at Moka House in Cadboro Bay.
Current prediction for Haro Strait (45% of Race Passage, measured at Hamley Point on Sidney Island) shows a fairly light ebb (-1.3 kts at 1000hrs, -2 kts at 1200hrs, and -1.3 kts at 1400hrs) - current should not be an issue during our paddle window.
Tide will be low-ish (around 1.9M) at launch falling to about 1.1M by 1300hrs so there will be lots of beach at Telegraph Bay for launch and our return.
Expect warm temperatures in mid-June, so ensure you dress appropriately and bring something to maintain hydration while on the water and on our brief on-shore break.
Anyone with questions please contact the paddle leader at: cst4420@telus.net or 250.213.2507 (don't reply to SISKA emails!)

TBA - depending on wind conditions
