Details:
Our leader will introduce the Plan and make sure everyone is comfortable with the requirements and any concerns that you may have. Please stay off the water until we are all ready. The leader may choose to enlist helpers and establish communications protocol. If you have VHF radio please bring it with you.
Plan A:
New SISKA members (joined during the past 12 months) will be given preference when registering for this paddle, but all members may register.
Launch is at the Oak Bay Boat Ramp, which is at the wolves sculptures on Beach Drive (North of Oak Bay Marina). Parking is available along Beach Drive.
We will follow the coastline and make our way past Willows Beach to Cattle Point and noodle among the islets and coves along The Uplands shoreline. Then we will head into Cadboro Bay and have lunch at Gyro Park (washrooms available). After lunch we will head to Flower Island and if everyone is up for it and the sea state/weather cooperates we will proceed to Ten Mile Point Ecological Reserve.
For the return we may cross Cadboro Bay, then take the ebb all the way back to Oak Bay Boat Launch.
Remember to dress for immersion and bring water, snacks, lunch and a change of clothes.
Although the tide will not be in our favour for most of the day the tidal exchanges are low during the time we will be paddling. High tide is at 8:51 AM (6.2 feet) it then ebbs to a low tide of 4.1 feet at 2:50 PM which will assist us back to the Oak Bay Boat Launch.
Plan B:
In the case of strong westerlies Plan B is Telegraph Cove to Margaret Bay.
