Details:
Our leader will introduce the Plan and make sure everyone is comfortable with the requirements and any concerns that you may have. Please stay off the water until we are all ready. The leader may choose to enlist helpers and establish communications protocol. If you have VHF radio please bring it with you.
Plan A:
We will launch at Island View Beach with a mid-high tide of 7.4ft and head over to the end of James Island (1.2nm crossing), then East across Sidney Channel to the Sallas Rocks on the corner of Sidney Island, a distance of 2.5nm. Crossing Hughes Passage we will pass between Little D'Arcy and D'Arcy Islands and stop for lunch at the beach. After lunch we will continue our clockwise circumnavigation and head to the D'Arcy Island light before beginning our 3nm crossing back to Island View Beach with an ebb tide.
This is an Energizer Paddle due to the distance of 10nm and potential rough conditions on the long Cordova Channel crossing, so paddlers must be strong PC level 1.
Plan B:
Depending on wind conditions we may opt for James Island or over to Brentwood Bay.
