Our leader will introduce the Plan and make sure everyone is comfortable with the requirements and any concerns that you may have. Please stay off the water until we are all ready. The leader may choose to enlist helpers and establish communications protocol. If you have VHF radio please bring it with you.
Plan A:
** This is a good paddle for those wanting to try an energizer paddle (for distance) without having to contend with open water crossings or current **
Depart from Cooper Cove paddling along the eastern shore of Sooke Basin into Roche Cove before making our way into Anderson Cove where we will stop for lunch before returning to Cooper Cove (probably) by way of the Goodridge Islands.
Tide is rising throughout the paddle day. Low tide is at 0630hrs (0.9M) rising to 2.6M by 2030hrs. Current is very rarely an issue paddling inside the protection of Sooke Basin.
There are no washroom facilities at the launch or lunch locations.
** Please note you can not turn left from Sooke Road (Hwy 14) into the parking lot at the Stickleback Taphouse. Proceed north until a safe/legal turn-around can be made so you can turn right into the parking lot at the Stickleback.
Anyone with questions or concerns please contact the paddle leader by email: cst4420@telus.net or txtmsg 250.213.2507
