Description
What:
A SISKA Relaxed paddle from Telegraph Cove to Margaret Bay
Skill Level:
This paddle is rated as a Relaxed Paddle because of its modest pace, relatively safe environment and social component. To understand this designation better, please read SISKA's Paddle Guidelines
Paddlers taking part in this paddle are required to have PC Basic or equivalent experience. For information about PC Levels click here.
The total distance of this paddle is estimated to be approximately 6.00nm.
When:
Sunday, September 20th, 2026. Meet at the launchsite by 09:30am to be on the water by 10:00am
Where:
We will launch at Telegraph Cove. Need directions to the launchsite? Click here.
Who:
TBA
Details:
Our leader will introduce the Plan and make sure everyone is comfortable with the requirements and any concerns that you may have. Please stay off the water until we are all ready. The leader may choose to enlist helpers and establish communications protocol. If you have VHF radio please bring it with you.
Plan A:
Come paddle the Gordon Head coastline and see the area from a different perspective. In the 1960s this area was field, forest, berry and flower fields with very few homes on large lots. Development through the 1990s has filled in much of the green space and provided park access along the shore. But on the water, there is much to explore and enjoy.
Come join me for the Gordon Head coastline tour.
Plan B:
Wind from the south or east will make our Plan A an exposed bit of paddling. We'll decamp for a launch at Cadboro Bay and a tour of the Oak Bay coastline or we'll move our paddle to Brentwood Bay if conditions are unusually (for September) windy or rough.
Plan C is Coffee and Cake at Mocha House in Cadboro Bay Village.
