NOTE: There is a minimum of 8 participants for this clinic to proceed. If we do not reach that number, full refunds will be issued to anyone who did register.
Navigation & Chart Work by SKILS
( 2 evening sessions).
This two night clinic is designed for beginner to intermediate paddlers looking to strengthen their navigation fundamentals before the paddling season begins in earnest. Through practical exercises and group discussion, you’ll learn to interpret marine charts, plot bearings, identify hazards, and plan efficient routes for day and multi-day trips. Whether you’re refreshing skills or building confidence for the first time, these evenings will give you the tools to make safe, informed decisions on the water. It is suggested you bring along a compass, a chart that you plan on using on a trip, a protractor, if you have one, and Chart 1, ( there will be a copy for each work group) if you don’t have a paper copy, chart 1 is on line at: https://publications.gc.ca/collections/collection_2022/mpo-dfo/Fs72-42-2019.pdf . You should also have a notepad and pen to take notes.This clinic is put on by Finn Steiner, co-owner of SKILS, and is a PC Level 3 Instructor, a SKGABC Class IV Guide, among other qualification, and brings over a decade of kayaking experience.
Cost:
The cost of this Off Water Clinicis $70
Note: Refunds for cancellations (minus bank fees) will be permitted until 2 weeks in advance of a paid workshop, clinic, or course. Within 2 weeks of such an event, refunds for cancellations will only be provided if another member registers and pays for the spot vacated.
