What:
A SISKA Light paddle from Shoreline Drive Boat Ramp to Portage Inlet BC Day - Portage Inlet Food Truck Tour
Skill Level:
This paddle is rated as a Light Paddle and will follow the same rules as a Relaxed Paddles with regard to current, wind, waves and crossings.. To understand this designation better, please read SISKA's Paddle Guidelines
Paddlers taking part in this paddle are required to have PC Basic or equivalent experience. For information about PC Levels click here.

When:
Monday, August 03rd, 2026. Meet at the launchsite by 2:00pm to be on the water by 2:30pm

Details:
Our leader will introduce the Plan and make sure everyone is comfortable with the requirements and any concerns that you may have. Please stay off the water until we are all ready. The leader may choose to enlist helpers and establish communications protocol. If you have VHF radio please bring it with you.
Plan A:
A special BC Day paddle will take us on a tour of Portage Inlet, exploring the mudflats as much as we can then under Admirals Bridge, along the Saanich Gorge waterway to VCKC then across to Esquimalt Gorge Park where we will check out the food trucks at the Esquimalt Gorge Farmers Market. The food trucks listed for Aug 3 are: JM Churros and Mor, AXOLOTL Mexican Flavors, Naked Dressings and Bao Theory.
We will launch at Shoreline Middle School ramp, parking is available at the school. While at Farmers Market we will tie up our kayaks on the beach; if you have a cable lock bring it.
NOTE THE LATER LAUNCH TIME OF 2:30PM - THE MARKET OPENS AT 4:30PM

The maximum number of paddlers for this paddle has been set to 6. There is room for 3 paddler(s).
Note: Preregistration of any SISKA paddle is mandatory and any required waiver(s) must be completed prior to the day of the paddle. The paddle leader will turn away any paddler, member or non member, that is not already on the paddle manifest with a signed electronic waiver on file
Note:
Always dress for the possibility of immersion and please bring a drybag containing a spare change of clothes.
Please bring a lunch / snacks and sufficient beverage to keep you hydrated, as well as a themos of something warm.
All participants are expected to have read, and to comply with SISKA's Policies and Procedures
