Details:
Our leader will introduce the Plan and make sure everyone is comfortable with the requirements and any concerns that you may have. Please stay off the water until we are all ready. The leader may choose to enlist helpers and establish communications protocol. If you have VHF radio please bring it with you.
Plan A:
This is for newcomers to kayak camping.
Do not be discouraged by the Energizer designation of this paddle.
Distances are very short but wind and wave -sometimes- conspire to make those short distances challenging. More often the conditions are benign and September is a great time to go paddle camping.
We will meet at the Hudson Point Launch site at approximately 9:30am (8:35 ferry from Swartz Bay), aiming to be on the water for 10:30am (extra time for packing boats). Making the short crossing over to Wallace Island and paddling the shoreline to the Chivers Point Campsite. There will be an opportunity for an afternoon paddle around the Secretary Islands after lunch and camp set up.
Saturday will be a group decision on start time and make our way over to Galiano Island having a leisurely lunch at Dionisio Park and returning to camp in the afternoon. Optional late afternoon or evening short paddle if interest.
We will pack up Sunday morning, hitting the water for 10:00am (or earlier) and head back to the launch point at Hudson and return to Fulford Harbour to catch the ferry (12:50 or 2:35).
