Plan A:
Moses Point was named after an early farmer in North Saanich whose farm included Moses Point.
Moses Point lies at the end of Moses Point Road in North Saanich. A 100 meter trail and some steps lead to a rocky shell and gravel beach at lower tides. Care must be taken as the rock is steep and can be slippery. Parking is along Moses Point Road. Maximum number of paddlers is limited as parking can be tight.
Kayakers usually use wheels to access the launch beach. If you have kayak wheels, please bring them and share them.
The beach faces north and overlooks the green top navigation marker on top of Wain Rock
The current ebbs in the morning and floods in the afternoon. We will cross Satellite Channel (1nm) to reach SaltSpring Island, veering right towards Isabella Island (ecological reserve) en route to Russell Island.
Russell Island is part of the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve. We will land on the west end of the island for lunch, and we will have time to explore the garden and orchard. The Mahoi house is not open at this time.
On our return route, we will paddle back to Isabella Point and then cross Satellite Channel and follow the northern shore of Saanich Peninsula.
