What:
A SISKA Relaxed paddle from Brentwood Bay Ferry Wharf to Mackenzie Bight Relaxed paddle to Mackenzie Bight

This paddle is rated as a Relaxed Paddle because of its modest pace, relatively safe environment and social component. To understand this designation better, please read SISKA's Paddle Guidelines.
The total distance of this paddle is estimated to be approximately 5.50nm.
When:
Saturday, October 29th, 2022. Meet at the launchsite by 09:30am to be on the water by 10:00am

Details:
Our leader will introduce the Plan and make sure everyone is comfortable with the requirements and any concerns that you may have. Please stay off the water until we are all ready. The leader may choose to enlist helpers and establish communications protocol. If you have VHF radio please bring it with you.
Plan A:
We will meet at 09:30 and assist one another in taking our kayaks down to the water. OTW eat 10:00. we will paddle over to Willis Point and then down the East side of Squally Reach to Mackenzie Bight where we will stop for lunch. We will retrace our route back to Brentwood Bay launch site. please note that, as the temperatures now are dropping from those of our abnormally warm Fall, we will need to wear appropriate immersion gear
Plan B:
If there is a significant deterioration in forecast wind conditions, the option will be to paddle around the coastline to Willis Point, in lee of the coastline, and then return via Todd Inlet and Butchart Cove, a paddle distance of approximately 5 nm, stopping for lunch in Todd inlet

Note:
Always dress for the possibility of immersion and please bring a drybag containing a spare change of clothes.
Please bring a lunch / snacks and sufficient beverage to keep you hydrated, as well as a themos of something warm.
All participants are expected to have read, and to comply with SISKA's Policies and Procedures
All paddlers must have submitted proof of vaccination in order to take part in this paddle.
