Who:
This paddle will be led by Dave Chater For more information about this paddle email Dave Chater
Details:
Our leader will introduce the Plan and make sure everyone is comfortable with the requirements and any concerns that you may have. Please stay off the water until we are all ready. The leader may choose to enlist helpers and establish communications protocol. If you have VHF radio please bring it with you.
Plan A:
This paddle takes out and around the lovely shoreline of Becher Bay and then along the exposed shoreline of East Sooke Park. We will paddle past Alderidge Point and Beechey Head in the park on our way towards Cabin Point. The shoreline of East Sooke Park has lots of interest with various rock outcrops and channels. This area of the shoreline can get some influences of the open ocean with some potential for ocean swell.
We will lunch at the small, protected beach Cabin Pt. (also in the park).
After the paddle, we can convene at the Pedder Bay Marina coffee shop, about 3-4 kms away from Spirit Bay for coffee and treats.
Please be aware that this area can have strong currents and active water. You should have a strong forward stroke and be prepared to encounter some current and dynamic water along the way. Full immersion gear is required on this paddle.
Plan B:
If the weather prohibits paddling out onto the exposed shoreline towards Cabin Pt, we can change the trip to a Relaxed paddle and do a circumnavigation of Becher Bay and enjoy the varied and interesting shoreline in the bay.
