The leader may choose to enlist helpers and establish communications protocol. If you have VHF radio please bring it with you.
Plan A:
This is an easier paddle planned for new paddlers or those looking for a morning only paddle. We will follow the shoreline at a leisurely pace and stop to stretch our legs in Glencoe Cove. Remember that the pace will be set by the slowest member of the group. The paddle will be approximately one hour each way so, with a brief shore break, there will be no need for a packed lunch. However, you may choose to bring some light snacks with your drink.
Light paddles follow the Relaxed Paddle rules regarding current, wind, waves and crossings.
Participants are required to have Paddle Canada Basic or equivalent experience.

Total distance of a Light Paddle is approximately 3 - 6 nautical miles and the duration is about
two hours. Participants should ensure that liquid and a snack are accessible on the water. We will meet and have a brief beach chat at Telegraph Cove before launching.
Please be sure to have a suitable sea kayak with bulkheads as well as a spray skirt. All paddlers must wear immersion clothing ( wet suit or dry suit) in case of a capsize. If you have a VHF radio, please bring that. For those interested, there will be a debriefing and coffee stop at Serious Coffee in Cadboro Bay after the paddle.
Plan B:
Should the winds be stronger and coming from the East or Southeast, we will move our launch site to Cadboro Bay and do a tour of the shoreline to Cattle Point and return.
