Details:
A group of otters is called a romp, being descriptive of their often playful nature...
If you are not familiar with romps, it is a chance to get on the water with a group of friends and practice skills or just have fun!
As of August 18, the blue-green algae advisory for Elk Lake is no longer in effect. Hooray! It was in place for 10 months, and the CRD implemented a water oxygenation program to combat the high phosphorus levels at Elk Lake which contributed to the algal bloom.
Date: Romps will take place Monday nights in September: Sept 15,22 and 29.
Time: Romps will be from 6 pm to 7:30 pm.
Location: We will be having the romps at Water Ski Beach. To get to the lake, come north on the Pat Bay Highway until you pass Haliburton Rd. Turn left onto Sayward Road. Turn right onto Brookleigh Rd. Turn Left onto Bear Hill Rd.
We will not be doing any clinics or instructing on our Monday nights, but we often focus on forward stroke (euroblade or Greenland paddle) on our first two weeks. Liane O'Grady will be assisting us on the water each evening.
Please note: we limit our paddling to near the beach. I would like to hear from anyone who will come, so I do not show up alone.
Please contact me at dm1hoffman@shaw.ca to let me know you are coming and to let me know if there is something you want to focus on. But if you can't email you are welcome anyway!
