Watch it first (1:16). The written steps below cover the same ground.

Join SISKA

Membership runs from January 1 to December 31. New members apply online, then pay by e-transfer.

  1. Open Join / Renew from the main menu (it reads Join or Renew! when that is what applies to you). If you are not signed in you see two cards: Renew an existing membership and Apply to join SISKA. Choose Apply to join. (Outside the intake window the card says applications are closed for the season.)
  2. Under How are you joining? pick Single or Family. A family membership is for people who live together at the same address, and the price shows on each card.
  3. Under Your details enter your First name, Last name and Email, and a phone number if you like. Use an email you check: it becomes your sign-in and where the club writes to you.
  4. Under Paddling experience choose your Paddling level and certification if you have one, and tick VHF Radio Operator Certificate (ROC) or First Aid certification if they apply. Not sure of your level? Pick the closest and the club can adjust it later.
  5. On a family application, Add family member under Family members for each person in your household. You can also leave it empty and add them later from My Account.
  6. Under Almost done tick the privacy policy box (select SISKA privacy policy to read it), then choose Submit application. A short security check may appear; let it finish.

Sign the waiver

If you do not have a current SISKA waiver on file, the site takes you straight to it after you submit.

  1. Read and sign the e-waiver on the page that opens.
  2. After signing, the site returns you to SISKA. If Continue is shown, choose it to reach your receipt. The submission is recorded for staff review.

The waiver is not yearly. A signed waiver stays valid until the club updates its waiver, and you are only asked again then.

Pay by e-transfer

Your receipt says Send your eTransfer and shows the Amount, who to Send to, and the Message. The same details reach you by email straight away, in SISKA - Membership application received, with a waiver link if you still need to sign and a link back to your receipt.

  1. In your bank’s Interac e-Transfer, send exactly that amount to the address shown.
  2. Copy the Message exactly as shown, for example Nicol / Membership (your last name, then Membership). The treasurer matches payments by that message, so a missing or different one slows things down.

Forgot the message, paid twice or paid for someone else? See Paying by e-transfer: common questions.

What happens next

Nothing more to do. Your membership turns on once your payment has been recorded and any waiver or review step is finished. Payments are matched by volunteers, usually within a couple of business days.

When it turns on, you get an email confirming your membership: who it covers, and links to sign in, your membership card and the calendar. Anyone in your household with their own email address and no SISKA password yet, you included, also gets a separate Set up your SISKA password email. Questions? Reply to either email, or use the Contact page.

Renew

Renewing is quicker because the site already knows you.

  1. Sign in, then open Join / Renew (or Renew!) in the main menu. Your card reads Renew your membership; choose Renew now. (Not signed in? Choose Sign in to renew on the first card.)
  2. The renewal form is filled in from last year. Check your details and your household, change anything that is out of date, and choose Submit renewal.
  3. If your waiver is current there is nothing to sign. Otherwise sign it as above.
  4. Send the e-transfer shown on the receipt with the message Last name / Renewal. The details are also in the SISKA - Membership renewal received email.

When your renewal is processed you get an email confirming it, listing who your membership covers and any family members added or no longer on it.

Once you have renewed, your card changes to Your renewal is already in progress, then Your renewal is in the queue when payment is recorded, and finally You’re up to date. If it says Your renewal needs review, email the club through the Contact page and they will sort it out.

Want family members covered?

Already a single member? In My Account → Household & Membership, choose Upgrade to family plan to add your household. Until the upgrade is paid, the Upgrade in progress card there shows Send your eTransfer with the Amount, who to Send to and the Message (Last name / Upgrade). The SISKA - Family upgrade request received email gives the same details, and a second email confirms when your family has been added.
